The contract is valued at more than €60 million ($71 million).
The company will provide more than 150 km (93 mi) of 66 kV XLPE–insulated cables. The cables will connect the Gode Wind 3 turbines to an offshore substation platform and Borkum Riffgrund 3 to an offshore converter station where the voltage will be increased and converted for onward transmission to the German mainland.
The cables will be produced in Montereau and Gron, France, and Nordenham, Germany. Both projects are expected to be completed by 2024.
Subject to Ørsted’s final investment decision, the 242-MW Gode Wind 3 wind farm is expected to go into full commercial operation in 2024. Commissioning of the 900-MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 wind farm is expected in 2025.
The offshore wind farms will be about 60 km (37 mi) from each other.
