Siemens Gamesa, Prysmian secure Saint-Brieuc contracts

ZAMUDIO, Spain – Ailes Marine has ordered turbines and submarine inter-array cable systems for the 496-MW Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm in France.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy received the firm order to supply 62 SG 8.0-167 DD turbines. This order also includes a 10-year agreement for turbine maintenance services.

The nacelles and blades will be produced at the company’s planned offshore wind turbine factory in Le Havre.

This is Siemens Gamesa’s first firm offshore order in the French market.

Prysmian Group received an €80-million ($89-million) contract to provide 90 km (56 mi) of three core 66 kV HVAC XLPE-insulated inter-array cables.

The cable cores will be manufactured at the company’s centers of excellence in Montereau-Fault-Yonne and Gron, France, and then assembled and finished in Nordenham, Germany.

Delivery and commissioning are scheduled for the end of 2022.
