Offshore oil and gas operators are returning to platforms and rigs in the Gulf of Mexico after Hurricane Sally.

NEW ORLEANS – Offshore oil and gas operators are returning to platforms and rigs in the Gulf of Mexico after Hurricane Sally.

According to the Bureau of Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), personnel remain evacuated from 119 production platforms and three non-DP rigs. One DP rig remains off location.

From 29 operator reports, BSEE estimates that about 27.48% of the current oil and 29.70% of the natural gas production in the Gulf of Mexico have been shut-in.
