Draugen partners offshore mid-Norway sanction Garn South well
OKEA has issued an update on development/tie-in projects around its Draugen and Brage field hubs offshore Norway.
At the Draugen platform in the Norwegian Sea, scaling caused the D2 oil producer to be shut down late last year. The subsequent scale squeeze campaign to restore service was unsuccessful, and the well remains shut in pending further investigation.
Recently the partners approved drilling of an additional producer well, Garn West South. A rig has been contracted for this program, which will start following completion of the two-well, 24-MMboe Bestla development program at Brage.
During the second quarter, OKEA assumed operatorship of PL 1113 southwest of Draugen, which includes a potential tieback prospect to the platform, AiSuma. DNO is the other partner.
Recently, protection work was completed on the newly installed subsea power cable from shore to Draugen.
At Brage, the newly drilled and completed producer well in the Sognefjord East structure has started service, and it should be followed early next year by another producer (and two exploration pilots) currently drilling into the Talisker area.
Installation of the Bestla subsea template was completed in May, and an associated inlet platform has been set down on the Brage platform. Topside preparations continue for riser pull-in activities, scheduled for the first half of 2026.
At the Vår Energi-operated Gjøa hub in the North Sea, the water injection system at the Nova satellite has reached optimal rates, stabilizing production. However, increased water cut and reservoir complexity remain challenging at the field, OKEA said.
