OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has issued a proposal to open Norway’s APA 2022 (Award in Pre-defined Areas) licensing round to public consultation.

According to the Ministry, the proposal entails including new acreage in the Barents Sea. The full announcement with application deadline is scheduled for this summer, followed by license awards in January 2023.

The majority of the areas available for exploration on the Norwegian continental shelf are covered by the annual APA rounds. These include most of the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and a large part of the southern Barents Sea.
