P-78 FPSO injects first gas for Petrobras at Búzios Field offshore Brazil
Petrobras has achieved first gas injection from the FPSO P-78 at the Búzios Field in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil, 61 days after first oil at the end of last year.
Seatrium was responsible for the topsides fabrication, integration and commissioning at its own and partner construction yards in Singapore, Brazil, China and South Korea.
By applying its One Seatrium Global Delivery Model, the company said it was able to speed up execution, a major factor in the fast-track period to first gas injection.
In partnership with Petrobras, Seatrium said it worked with its global vendor network to ensure readiness of key equipment such as the main process compressors, export compressors and gas injection compressors.
The next anticipated milestone will be completion of the delivery phase and the final acceptance of the vessel by Petrobras.
P-78 has been installed using a spread-mooring system in 2,100 m of water. The platform can produce up to 180,000 bbl/d of oil and 7.2 MMcm/d of gas, with storage for up to 2 MMbbl of crude.
It is one of six P-Series FPSO projects Seatrium is building for Petrobras, the others being P-80, P-82, P-83, P-84 and P 85, which should collectively add 1,305 MMbbl/d of oil production capacity.
