OTC 2021: Petrobras receives fourth achievement award

HOUSTONPetrobras will be awarded OTC’s Distinguished Achievement Award for Companies, on Sunday, just before the start of the event.

The award recognizes the innovations developed to achieve production from the presalt Búzios field in the Santos basin off Brazil, the world’s largest deepwater oil field discovery to date.

It will be the fourth time Petrobras has secured this recognition, having previously been honored at OTC 2015 for its pre-salt technologies, and prior to that for the Roncador and Marlim field innovation in the Campos basin in respectively 2001 and 1992.

The advances that led to this year’s award will be presented on Monday at the session “The Búzios Project: A Brazilian Pre-Salt Super Giant,” at 9:30 a.m. (local time).

General managers Jaime Naveiro and Fernando Mendes will deliver seven presentations supported by other specialist from the company, explaining their advances in reservoirs, wells, lifting and flow, and subsea and surface installation technologies.

Búzios: The Largest Ultra-deepwater Oilfield to Date” will be presented by the executive manager of the project, Marcio Kahn.

In addition, technical sessions and panels involving Petrobras will discuss technology for producing oil offshore with safety, efficiency, lower costs, and reduced emissions.

On Tuesday at 9:30 am, Production Development Director João Henrique Rittershaussen, will be one of the speakers at “The Brazilian Pre-Salt Development” session, discussing challenges, and opportunities in the Brazilian pre-salt for companies seeking to invest in the area.

At 3 p.m. Director of Institutional Relations and Sustainability, Roberto Ardenghy will address the topic of “Developments in Brazil’s Energy Sector.” At 4 p.m. the panel “Sustainability, Innovation, and Digitalization” will feature Director of Digital Transformation and Innovation, Nicolas Simone. He will examine how innovation and technology can help the company cut emissions and costs and increase production efficiency.

On Wednesday, CEO Joaquim Silva e Luna and Exploration & Production Director Fernando Borges will be on the Bratecc Offshore Breakfast 2021 panel for an event titled “Navigating The New Decade of Brazil’s O&G: An Ocean of Opportunities from Onshore to Offshore, Transfer of Rights and More.”
