RIO DE JANEIROPetrobras has won this year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Distinguished Achievement Award for Companies, in recognition of innovations at the deepwater Búzios field in the presalt Santos basin.

The company developed various technologies to address conditions such as ultra-deepwater and reservoirs below the salt layer, high pressure levels, and a high carbon dioxide content.

These innovations relate to the reservoirs, wells, elevation and flow, subsea technologies and surface installations.

One of the main achievements was the installation of four FPSOs on the field within a period of 11 months.

Petrobras is due to receive its award in a ceremony on May 4 during the OTC congress in Houston, attended by the company’s CEO Castello Branco and other technical representatives.

To mark the occasion, the company will present a special session dedicated to the technologies developed for the Búzios field.

This is Petrobras’ fourth OTC award. The first time was in 1992, for innovations developed for the Marlim field in the Campos basin; the second, in 2001, for solutions designed for Roncador; and the third, in 2015, for 10 technologies created specifically for presalt production.

Last year, the Brazilian edition of the conference (OTC Brazil) also presented the company with the Distinguished Achievement Award for innovations applied during the Libra long-term test in the presalt Santos basin.
