Sapura Energy awarded multiple drilling, construction jobs offshore Malaysia, Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Sapura Drilling Asia, a subsidiary of Sapura Energy, currently has eight rigs contracted for work through 3Q 2022, increasing the take-up of its fleet to 57%.

Among the company’s latest contract wins are two from Petronas Carigali for programs offshore Malaysia.

The first, involving tender-assist rig services on a call-out basis, started in late April and runs for two years, with an option for a two-year extension.

For the second, awarded by SapuraOMV, the company, in partnership with Halliburton, is working on a six-well integrated rig, drilling, and completion services program due to start offshore Malaysia in the current quarter, using the semisubmersible tender-assist drilling rig Sapura Esperanza.

Offshore Thailand, PTTEP Energy Development Co. has awarded Sapura Drilling a three-year contract, with optional extensions of up to 12 months, for the tender-assist rig Sapura T-17.

The campaign will start sometime between mid-October and mid-November.

Finally, PTT Exploration and Production Public Co. have extended the contract for the tender-assist rig Sapura T-18 by four months to end-October 2021.

Parent company Sapura Energy also announced contract wins for two other subsidiaries.

Sapura Fabrication is providing services for EnQuest’s PM8 Extension Production Sharing Contract (PM8E) off Peninsular Malaysia under a one-year contract which started in mid-March. The work scope comprises project management, fabrication, offshore maintenance, construction, and modification works.

Sarawak Shell and Sabah Shell commissioned Sapura Fabrication for topsides major maintenance at various projects offshore Sarawak and Sabah. The contract runs through Aug. 19, 2023, with potential for work orders on a call-off basis.

Sapura Offshore has secured contracts under the Pan Malaysia Transportation and Installation of Offshore Facilities 2021 campaign.

PTTEP has commissioned the company for transportation and installation, engineering, survey, interfacing, topsides installation and handover, removal of temporary structures, and other optional works.

For EnQuest, the company is replacing a 10-in. gas lift subsea pipeline and risers. The scope includes engineering, transportation, installation of risers, subsea tie-ins and pre-commissioning of the pipelines, with work due to be completed later this year.
