Wintershall set to work on newly awarded offshore Brazil blocks
Wintershall says planning has already started on exploration of its seven newly awarded blocks under Brazil’s 15th bidding round.
Thilo Wieland, the company’s executive board member responsible for South America, Russia and North Africa, said: “Over the past few months we’ve evaluated a lot of data and interpreted the geology. The blocks show huge potential.”
Four of the blocks are in the Ceara and Potiguar basins offshore northern Brazil (in each case Wintershall operates with a 100% interest):
The other three are in the Santos and Campos basins off the southeast coast:
S-M-764 Chevron (40%, operator), Repsol (40%), and Wintershall (20%)
C-M-821 Repsol (40%, operator), Chevron (40%), and Wintershall (20%)
C-M-823 Repsol (40%, operator), Chevron (40%), and Wintershall (20%).
