STAVANGER, Norway – Wintershall Norge has awarded two subsea contracts for the Nova (ex-Skarfjell) tieback project in the Norwegian North Sea.
The combined value is $230 million.Wintershall expects to submit a plan for development and operation (PDO) for this project before mid-year.
Nova, discovered in 2012, is in the northeastern part of the North Sea in 360 m (1,181 ft) of water in the Quadrant 35 area in the Norwegian North Sea.
Most of the field is in production license PL 418, with a possible extension into PL 378.
Nova, which has estimated recoverable reserves of 80 MMboe, will be tied back to the Gjøa platform, 60 km (37 mi) west of Florø, and should come onstream in 2021. Wintershall also operates the producing Vega field, another tieback to Gjøa.
Based on the proposed plan, hydrocarbons from the Nova reservoir will be developed via two subsea templates connected to thesemisubmersible Gjøa platform for processing and export.
Gjøa will also provide lift gas to the field and water injection for pressure support. One template will serve for water injection, while the other will be used to produce hydrocarbons.
Aker Solutions will deliver a standardized subsea production system (SPS) under an engineering, procurement, and construction contract. This will comprise two template manifolds with seven trees (including one spare), an integrated service umbilical, and a subsea control system.
Aker Solutions will also provide installation and commissioning support services. It will manufacture the equipment at its sites in Norway, the UK and Malaysia, with final deliveries scheduled for 2019 and 2020.
Subsea 7 will design, procure and install four pipelines linking Nova to Gjøa. These will comprise two pipe-in-pipe production flowlines, riser base structures, a water injection pipeline, and another pipeline supplying lift gas to the field.
In addition, Subsea 7 will install the subsea production system structures.
The company will fabricate the pipeline at its spoolbase in Vigra and handle project management and engineering from its offices in Stavanger, Norway. Offshore operations will take place during 2019 and 2020.
