LONDON – Sierra Leone’s government has provisionally awarded ODYE participation in two offshore exploration blocks, SL 8A-10 and SL 8B-10.
Both were offered under the country’s third bid round for nine open offshore exploration blocks. Bids closed on March 30, 2012.
ODYE’s Patrizia Ferrarese said: “The company is looking forward to working with the other participants in these provisionally awarded blocks, Chevron Sahara and Noble Energy…”
Blocks SL 8A-10 and SL 8B-10 extend over respective areas of 2,584 and 3,020 sq km (997 and 1,166 sq mi). Leads comprise early to late Cretaceous oil-prone marine source rocks, primarily shale, sand and shale basin floor fans, channelized sand sequences, and potentially high porosity sands.
