Hookup has finished of the MOPU and FSO unit at the Sèmè Field offshore Benin, operated by Akrake Petroleum.

It follows the recent anchoring of the FSO Kristina last week, Akrake’s indirect owner Lime Petroleum said in an update, adding that a flowline was laid from the Stella Energy 1 MOPU to the FSO.

Commissioning of the production system is advanced, with oil now flowing into the FSO. Further testing and commissioning continue to optimize production rates and initiate regular production.

Sèmè, discovered by Union Oil in 1969, is in offshore Block 1. Previous operator Saga Petroleum produced about 22 MMbbl between 1982 and 1998, before halting production due to plunging oil prices.

The current redevelopment plan includes use of horizontal wells and modern completion technology for water control to maximize oil recovery.
