TotalEnergies has expanded its exploration positions offshore West Africa.
Offshore Republic of Congo, the company reported Sept. 1 that it has secured the Nzombo permit, west and southwest of the Moho production centers and 100 km from the coast of Pointe-Noire. TotalEnergies will operate Nzombo with a 50% share, with QatarEnergy assigned 35% and state-owned SNPC 15%.
The work program includes drilling of one exploration well, which is set to spud by the end of this year.
Offshore Nigeria, the company reported Sept. 2 that it has received confirmation of the PPL 2000 and PPL 2001 exploration licenses offshore Nigeria, both awarded following the 2024 Exploration Round organized by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.
TotalEnergies has an 80% operated interest in both concessions, which cover a 2,000-sq-km area in the West Delta basin, with the remaining 20% held by South Atlantic Petroleum. There, the work program commitments include one firm exploration well.
