ABERDEEN, UK --Oilexco North Sea expects to complete the acquisition of the Balmoral field floating production platform and associated assets from CNR by the end of this month.

Thereafter, the company will become official operator of the platform, which currently hosts production from Balmoral and the subsea satellites Glamis, Sterling, Brenda, and Nicol, all in the UK central North Sea.

Oilexco discovered and developed the latter two fields, which came onstream earlier this year. However, commissioning of a subsea multiphase pump at Brenda's manifold has been delayed for several months, due in part to topsides modifications.

This has constrained oil output from Brenda and Nicol to 18-20,000 b/d, but rates should rise once the pump enters service. Otherwise, reservoir performance at both fields is meeting or even exceeding expectations.
