Talisman brings two oil fields onstream offshore Vietnam

Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM) (NYSE:TLM) has started oil production from the Hai Su Trang and Hai Su Den (HST/HSD) development in the Cuu Long basin offshore southern Vietnam.

CALGARY, Canada – Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM) (NYSE:TLM) has started oil production from the Hai Su Trang and Hai Su Den (HST/HSD) development in the Cuu Long basin offshore southern Vietnam.

Production is expected to reach 15,000 b/d once the facilities are fully commissioned.

The development takes in two oil fields in 45 m (147 ft) water depth and 75 km (46.6 mi) offshore, in block 15-2/01 on the western edge of the basin. The operator is Thang Long Joint Operating Co. (TLJOC) in which Talisman (Vietnam 15-2/01) has a 60% interest and PVEP the remainder.

HST/HSD have been developed via two wellhead platforms tied back to the Te Giac Trang FPSO. At HST, four wells have been drilled, completed, and tied-in while two previously drilled wells at HSD were completed and tied in by TLJOC, using the services of PV Drilling.

PTSC Mechanical and Construction, a subsidiary company of PetroVietnam, built both platforms.
