LONDONNeptune Energy has awarded Petrofac a two-year extension to its engineering services deal for the Cygnus Alpha and Bravo platforms in the UK southern North Sea.

Petrofac will provide brownfield engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning services. Earlier in 2021, Neptune issued a separate, three-year extension to Petrofac’s UK operations and maintenance support contract.

The company has supported operations at the field for the past decade.

Neptune’s UK managing director, Alexandra Thomas, said: “The offshore team’s detailed knowledge supports the safe and optimal operation of the facility, and reduces time and costs associated with planning engineering activities.

“This is crucial given Cygnus is a key component of the UK North Sea’s energy infrastructure, capable of producing 6% of UK domestic gas demand.”

Petrofac COO Nick Shorten said one of its areas of focus was on managing brownfield integrity scopes and EPC modifications in ways that limit impact on operations and minimize downtime.
