OSLO, NorwayEquinor has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to extend the lives of the Heimdal complex in the North Sea and the associated pipelines and wells until Jan. 1, 2024.

The consent was issued based on new documentation, prior audits, and a meeting with Equinor.

Heimdal is in the central Norwegian North Sea in a water depth of 120 m (394 ft). It was developed using an integrated drilling, production and accommodation facility with a steel jacket (HMP1), with production starting in 1985.

Today it serves primarily as a gas processing center for other tied-in fields.
