North Sea Sygna granted life extension

Equinor has approval from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to extend the life of the Sygna field in the North Sea until Aug. 10, 2026.

OSLO, NorwayEquinor has approval from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to extend the life of the Sygna field in the North Sea until Aug. 10, 2026.

The previous consent applied until March 9, 2024.

Sygna, in the northeast corner of the Statfjord area, is in 300 m (984 ft) water depth. Production started in 2000 via a four-slot subsea template connected to the Statfjord C platform.

In addition, the PSA has approved Equinor’s requested use of the jackup Noble Lloyd Noble for drilling and completion at the Valemon field, also in the North Sea.
