SINGAPORE – KrisEnergy has suspended production from the Wassana oilfield in the Gulf of Thailand.

The company cited the numerous uncertainties in the current environment, including the duration of the COVID-19 outbreak, the speed of the global economic recovery, the revival in petroleum demand, and the sustainability of any upturn in oil prices.

Production from Wassana in the G10/48 concession averaged 3,605 b/d during Q1, 2020. The field, which came onstream in August 2015, produces through a mobile offshore production unit and an FSO.

KrisEnergy has terminated agreements with respect to the FSO and is in talks on warm-stacking the MOPU while retaining a minimal crew, supported from the Songkhla shorebase.

Due to these actions the company will reduce its workforce in Thailand by around 25%.
