CNOOC starts up latest Penglai platform offshore China

CNOOC has brought onstream the Penglai 19-3 oilfield area 4 adjustment/Penglai 19-9 oilfield phase II project in the Bohai region of the South China Sea.

HONG KONGCNOOC has brought onstream the Penglai 19-3 oilfield area 4 adjustment/Penglai 19-9 oilfield phase II project in the Bohai region of the South China Sea.

The Penglai 19-3/19-9 oilfields are in an average water depth of 28 m (92 ft). CNOOC has added a new wellhead platform which will be connected to 47 wells, comprising 30 producers, 16 water injectors and a combined development/appraisal well.

Production will head to existing processing facilities in the area, with output set to build to a peak of around 15,681 b/d of crude in 2022.

ConocoPhillips China is the other partner.
