DOHA, Qatar – Qatargas Operating Co. has delivered the first cargo of LNG on a Q-Flex vessel to the FSRU Excellence offshore Bangladesh, part of the Moheshkhali LNG terminal (MLNG).

The cargo was loaded onto the Al Thumama carrier at Ras Laffan and offloaded to MLNG last month.

According to Qatargas, this was the first commercial open water ship-to-ship transfer involving a Q-Flex LNG vessel.

MLNG has been jointly developed by Excelerate Energy and the Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corp. (Petrobangla). The FSRU is under a 15-year charter deal to Petrobangla and transported the inaugural LNG cargo from Qatar in April 2018.

Qatargas has a long-term agreement to supply Petrobangla with up to 2.5 MMt/yr of LNG over a 15-year period.
