ATHENS, GreeceCorinth Pipeworks will supply steel pipes to Israel Natural Gas Lines (INGL) for the offshore section of a new high-pressure gas pipeline between the cities of Ashdod and Ashkelon.

Chevron, which recently acquired Noble Energy, operator of the Leviathan and Tamar offshore gas fields, has an agreement with INGL to provide natural gas transmission services.

The new pipeline system, coupled with the expansion of other lines, will allow Chevron and its partners to export up to 7 bcm/yr of gas to Egypt.

Corinth’s contract covers around 50 km (31 mi) of 36-in. LSAW linepipe, and includes anti-corrosion coating and concrete weight coating.

All the pipes will be manufactured this year at the company’s Thisvi plant in Greece. Offshore installation of the pipeline should begin next year.

Corinth also supplied linepipe for Energean’s deepwater Karish pipeline in the Israeli sector.
