(Sicily) Pipe coating specialist Socotherm has opened a new facility at the New Marine Base at Pozzallo in Sicily. The plant, extending over an area of 140,000 cu m, should in time be able to provide services such as concrete weight coating, deepwater insulation, and double-jointing, providing offshore contractors with 24 m long welded dual pipe sections.
The base is designed to serve all upcoming pipeline projects in the Mediterranean region, in particular the Medgaz gas line between Algeria and south-east Spain.
