Apache Corp.'s Blue prospect tested at 17.4 MMcf/d of gas. The Abu Sir-1X deepwater well on Apache's West Mediterranean concession off Egypt tested at 104-ft interval on a 38/64-in. choke with 2,095 psi of flowing tubing pressure.

Apache Corp.'s Blue prospect tested at 17.4 MMcf/d of gas. The Abu Sir-1X deepwater well on Apache's West Mediterranean concession off Egypt tested at 104-ft interval on a 38/64-in. choke with 2,095 psi of flowing tubing pressure in the Pliocene-age Kafir El Sheikh formation.
The company calculates the well's absolute open flow potential at 90.4 MMcf/d, said Apache President and COO G. Steven Farris.
"Based on these results, we see no need to test the remaining pay," Farris said.
Operator Apache holds 55%, RWE-DEA 28.3%, and BP 16.7%.
Transocean's Sedco Expresssemi drilled the Abu Sir well to a total depth of 7,530 ft in 3,255 ft of water 42 miles from shore.
Farris said the company has identified seven prospects and leads in the deepwater portion of the 2.3-million-acre concession off Egypt. Apache expects to drill on four additional structures this year, he said.
