Eni awards Baker Hughes, Saipem contracts for Cyprus’ Cronos gas development

Baker Hughes will supply subsea production systems while Saipem will conduct drilling operations for Eni’s deepwater Cronos gas development offshore Cyprus, as both contractors add to growing offshore project backlogs across the Mediterranean, West Africa and Southeast Asia.

Why this news matters:

  • The Cronos project is one of the most significant gas developments emerging in the Eastern Mediterranean and could strengthen Cyprus’ role in regional gas supply.

  • The awards signal continued operator investment in deepwater gas projects despite broader market uncertainty, supporting demand for drilling and subsea equipment providers.

  • The contracts also highlight Eni’s growing offshore development activity across multiple regions, including Cyprus, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Indonesia.
