The Cronos discovery in Block 6 is part of a series of significant gas finds made by Eni offshore southern Cyprus. The project is among several Eastern Mediterranean developments being evaluated to help supply regional and European gas markets.

Eni has awarded Halliburton a well construction and completions contract for the Cronos gas development.

Halliburton will provide integrated drilling, well construction, automation and completions services for deepwater exploration and development wells. The bundled scope, the company said, should lead to reduced operational interfaces and improved execution certainty for the multi-year project.

The scope of supply includes drilling fluids, directional drilling, LOGIX automation and remote operations, cementing, surface well testing and coiled tubing, with Halliburton drawing on regional capabilities in Cyprus for logistics support.

Halliburton added that it expects to apply this integrated delivery model to further offshore campaigns in the East Mediterranean as operators pursue efficiency and performance gains in the increasingly complex offshore environments.
