Appraisal leads to reserves upgrade for Han discovery offshore Mexico
Harbour Energy and its partners are progressing the Kan Field development project offshore Mexico into the concept select phase, the company said in its latest results review.
The appraisal campaign for the discovery in offshore Block 30 finished earlier this year and led to an increase in oil-in-place volumes of more than 500 MMboe. Harbour estimates the recoverable resource at about 150 MMboe, with development options to be assessed before entering front-end engineering design.
In the TotalEnergies-operated offshore CMA-1 concession in Tierra del Fuego province, southern Argentina, the licenses have been extended through 2041. Earlier this year, a workover was completed at the Aries platform ahead of schedule.
At Harbour’s Natuna Sea Block A offshore Indonesia, a two-well development campaign is underway with production from the first well expected later in the year.
Work continues with Mubadala Energy to assess options for the recent deepwater multi-Tcf Andaman Sea gas discoveries, including a potential phased development focused initially on the Tangkulo Field.
Offshore Norway, development concept studies have begun for the Adriana/Sabina and Storjo discoveries and Cuvette (discovered in 2024).
Earlier in the year, Harbour brought onstream the Jocelyn South Field in the UK central North Sea via the Judy platform, three months after discovery, then started up production from the RK development well. These wells and strong subsurface performance from the Talbot accumulation lifted production from the J-Area to the highest rates since 2013, when it was operated by ConocoPhillips.
In the Danish North Sea, the INEOS-led Greensand Future carbon capture and storage (CCS) project (Harbour 40%) is due to start commercial operations in 2026, with a CO2 injection rate of 400,000 metric tons/year.
Harbour also fulfilled a commitment on the Havstjerne license in the Norwegian North Sea, completing the CO2 storage appraisal well safely and below budget.
Finally, the UK Chancellor has notified the company and its partners of her intention to provide development funding up to FID for the Viking CCS project offshore and onshore Lincolnshire, eastern England.
