SMOE to build integrated platform deck

Singapore's SMOE is to build a $300-million integrated platform deck for Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Co. Sdn. Bhd. (CPOC). The deck will be installed in block B-17 of the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (MTJDA).

SINGAPORE -- Singapore's SMOE is to build a $300-million integrated platform deck for Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Co. Sdn. Bhd. (CPOC). The deck will be installed in block B-17 of the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (MTJDA).

The contract includes providing engineering, procurement, construction, load-out, offshore hookup, and commissioning services in the field.

Work on the 16,329-metric-ton (18,000-ton) deck will begin in May, with completion scheduled for June 2009 according to SMOE's parent group SembCorp Marine Ltd. The facilities will include processing, power generation, compression, separation, water injection, and utilities.

Block B-17 lies in 61 m (200 ft) water depth about 260 km (162 mi) east of Songkhia in southern Thailand and about 150 km (93 mi) north of Kota Bahru in northern Malaysia.

The companies jointly are exploring and developing the block under the MTJDA in the Gulf of Thailand.
