Iran firms up offshore route of Oman gas pipeline

Iranian engineers have completed hydrography and mapping for the marine section of the proposed Iran-Oman gas export pipeline.

TEHRAN, Iran – Iranian engineers have completed hydrography and mapping for the marine section of the proposed Iran-Oman gas export pipeline.

An official told news service Shana the team had had to make various amendments to the route to address various obstacles along the way.

Iranian and Omani representatives had met to discuss the risks during the course of the project, he added.

Shana also reported that the crane vesselOceanic 5000 installed the new 2,700-ton South Pars Phase 21 platform at its offshore location last Friday.

The platform, designed to produce more than 1 bcf/d of gas, was built at the Khorramshahr Yard.

This follows the earlier installation ofSouth Pars platform 19C. Five more platforms are due to be installed for various phase over the next seven months.
