LONDON – Independent Oil and Gas has awarded HSM the EPCI contract for its Core Project Phase 1 platforms in the UK southern North Sea.

The contract, which is mostly on a lump-sum basis, involves design, engineering, fabrication and installation (including hook-up and commissioning assistance) of two normally unmanned production platforms for the Southwark and Blythe gas fields.

IOG has been working with HSM since late 2019 under pre-contractual arrangements concerning platform design and fabrication activities at the latter’s yard at Schiedam in the Netherlands.

Fabrication activities are said to be progressing well, and offshore installation is planned for 1H 2021.

Phase 1 is focused on development and production of the Southwark, Blythe and Elgood gas fields through a total of five production wells, with gas sent to the Bacton terminal on the Norfolk coast via the 24-in. subsea Thames Pipeline system.

The Southwark Hub platform will be a key installation for Phase 1 and other planned developments, IOG said, while Blythe’s platform will be the focal point of the Blythe Hub, including the Elgood subsea tieback.
