Afrodite appraisal well more than doubles North Sea gas resource estimate

An appraisal well on the Afrodite gas-condensate discovery offshore Norway has increased estimated recoverable volumes to 77-180 MMboe, more than doubling previous expectations.

Why this news matters:

  • The appraisal well has increased estimated recoverable volumes to as much as 180 MMboe, significantly improving the project's commercial outlook.

  • Existing infrastructure at the Kvitebjørn platform and Kollsnes processing plant could enable a lower-cost, faster-track development.

  • The result supports continued investment in HP/HT exploration prospects in the Norwegian North Sea.
