LONDON — Chariot Energy expects the drillship Stena Forth to spud the Anchois-East well in the Lixus license offshore Morocco in August.

The Anchois-2 appraisal and exploration well that Chariot drilled as operator in 2022 increased the 2C discovered resources of the Anchois gas field by a factor of five, mainly through establishing five new gas-bearing sands in a stacked accumulation.

Under the stewardship of the new operator Energean, the team is now advancing the process toward development sanction, final details of which will be determined by the outcome of the Anchois-East well.

The campaign could include an optional second well, to support planning of the completion design, the number of producer wells and the field’s production capacity. A drilling success could lead to higher production rates than previously anticipated.

The partners also plan to acquire new seismic data over the offshore Rissana license.
