LONDON – Statoil and its co-venturers in license P.2170 in the UK central North Sea plan further drilling on last year’s Verbier oil discovery.

According to partner Jersey Oil & Gas, the approved work program for the license, covering blocks 20/5b & 21/1d, involves appraisal of Verbier and contingent well planning, including a site survey to progress exploration activity.

Negotiations are under a way for a rig to drill one well and an optional sidetrack on Verbier this summer.

Andrew Benitz, CEO of Jersey Oil & Gas, said: “Initial operator estimates of gross recoverable resources associated with the Verbier discovery are between 25 and 130MMboe, with an estimated mean of 69MMboe.”
