Statoil to drill potential Norne satellite

Statoil has permission from the Petroleum Safety Authority to drill an exploration well close to the Norne field complex in the Norwegian Sea.

OSLO, NorwayStatoil has permission from the Petroleum Safety Authority to drill an exploration well close to the Norne field complex in the Norwegian Sea.

The semisubmersibleDeepsea Bergen is due to spud well 6507/3-12 this month on block 6507/3 on the Mim prospect, 8 km (4.9 mi) southwest of Norne, in a water depth of 381 m (1,250 ft).

Drilling is expected to take 27 days - a potential side track could add 18 days to the program.
