US Gulf of Mexico drilling rig count back up by one

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by one over the past week, going from 16 up to 17.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by one over the past week, going from 16 up to 17, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Aug. 25, 2017.

The increase reversed the declineseen in the previous week, and that number (17) is the same as it was last year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US GoM rig count, also increasing from 16 to 17. That number (17) is also unchanged year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was down by six to 940, with oil rigs down by four to 759, gas rigs down by two 180, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 451, with oil rigs up by 353, gas rigs up by 99, and miscellaneous rigs down by one.
