HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count fell by one over the past week, going from 17 down to 16, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Aug. 18, 2017.
That number (16) is down by two year-over-year, and the decline reversed the gain ofthe previous week.
The overall US offshore drilling rig count fell by two, from 18 to 16. The loss of a rig operating offshore Alaska added to the loss of a rig operating in the GoM. That number (16) is down by two year-over-year.
The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was down by three at 946, with oil rigs down by five to 763, gas rigs up by one to 182, and miscellaneous rigs up by one.
Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 455, with oil rigs up by 357, gas rigs up by 99, and miscellaneous rigs down by one.
