ABERDEEN, UK --Oilexco has made a multiple zone light oil discovery on the Huntington prospect in UK central North Sea block 22/14b. Well 22/12b-5 encountered 98-ft (29.87 m) of oil-bearing reservoir Paleocene Forties sands at a depth of 8,960-ft (2,731 m), and 58-ft (17.68 m) of oil-bearing reservoir in Upper Jurassic Fulmar sand.
After completing the wireline evaluation of the Upper Jurassic Fulmar interval, Oilexco will start drillstem tests on the Palaeocene interval, concluding these operations within three weeks. It then plans to use one of its two semisubmersible rigs on long-term contracts to appraise the size of the two structures discovered on Huntington.
This program also will evaluate the structures' higher crestal areas, as the discovery well was drilled on the flank. Additionally, Oilexco has identified two analogous Palaeocene structures on block 22/13b to the west.
