Luno well finds oil

Lundin Oil has discovered oil with its first operated well in the Norwegian North Sea.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden --Lundin Oil has discovered oil with its first operated well in the Norwegian North Sea.

The semisubmersibleBredford Dolphin drilled well 16/1-8 on the Luno prospect in production license PL 338, 28 km (17.4 mi) east of StatoilHydro's Gudrun discovery.

The well encountered light oil in a clastic Jurassic reservoir, and was drilled to a vertical depth of 2,175 m (7,136 ft) subsea, in a water depth of 108 m (354 ft). Lundin is analyzing data and samples collected from the operation. Its partners in the license are Revus Energy and RWE Dea Norge.
