Drilling has started on the fourth well for the Barossa gas-condensate development in the Timor Sea, operator Santos said in a results statement.
Productivity from the three wells completed to date has been at the higher end of expectations, the company added.
Currently, construction of the Darwin pipeline duplication and Darwin LNG life extension facilities is 64% complete. In addition, all subsea risers and dynamic umbilicals, as well as pre-commissioning of the final subsea infield flowlines, has finished.
The FPSO is in the pre-commissioning yard in Singapore preparing for sailaway in first-quarter 2025. Overall, the Barossa project, designed to backfill Darwin LNG, is more than 82% complete and remains on track for startup in third-quarter 2025.
Also nearing a conclusion is the FEED for the Bayu-Undan carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the Timor Sea. Talks continue with the Timor-Leste government concerning implementation of regulatory and fiscal frameworks, approvals and agreements with Australia’s government.
