Dongs, DNO resume Norway exploration

Two independent operators will start exploration drilling shortly in the North Sea, following approvals from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority.

OSLO, Norway --Two independent operators will start exploration drilling shortly in the North Sea, following approvals from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority.

The Aker H-3 type semisubmersibleBredford Dolphinwill drill well 16/1-9 for DNO subsidiary Noil Energy in production license PL 001B.

The location is southwest of StatoilHydro's Grane field. Drilling should start in January, although this will depend on progress of the rig's current commitment.

In PL 289, the jackupMaersk Guardian will drill well 3/7-7 for Dong E&P Norge in a water depth of 62 m (203 ft). This operation, expected to take around 67 days, should get under way in February.
