Marathon Petroleum Norge plans to drill an exploration well in the northern North Sea, following clearance from Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority.

OSLO, Norway --Marathon Petroleum Norge plans to drill an exploration well in the northern North Sea, following clearance from Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority.

The Aker H-3 type semisubmersibleBredford Dolphin will drill the well (31/1-1) in production license 311, 25 km (15.5 mi) northeast of the Oseberg field.

Drilling will get under way once the rig has completed another assignment for DNO, and should take around 50 days.
