STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Lundin Petroleum has started drilling the Apollo structure, 5 km (3.1 mi) northwest of its Luno field in license PL338.

The main objective of well 16/1-14 in license PL338, drilled by the semisub Transocean Winner, is to test a possible extension of the Draupne field to the north. Lundin estimates Apollo’s unrisked gross prospective resources in the range 20-130 MMboe.

The planned depth is around 2,500 m (8,202 ft) below mean sea level. Drilling should take around 50 days to complete.

Lundin operates PL338 in partnership with Wintershall Norge and RWE Dea Norge.
