OSLO, Norway -- The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has cleared Lundin Norway to drill wildcat well 16/7-9 in the North Sea.

The semisubmersible rig Transocean Winner, currently completing an appraisal well for Lundin in production license 338, will drill the wildcat in PL 409, 20 km (12.4 mi) southeast of the Sleipner Øst field.

The area covered by this permit comprises parts of block 16/7. This will be the first well drilled on the license, which was awarded in February 2007 under Norway’s APA 2006 licensing round.
