Wellesley Petroleum has confirmed oil and gas in its Gnomoria appraisal well (35/10-12 S) in the Norwegian North Sea, 100 km southwest of Florø.

The semisub COSLPromoter drilled the well in 363 m of water in production license 1184 S, which was awarded under Norway’s APA 2022 round.

According to the Norwegian Offshore Directorate, initial analysis suggests 5 MMboe to 25 MMboe recoverable.

Gnomoria, discovered in 2018, is close to numerous other undeveloped discoveries. The licensees are considering a tieback to infrastructure in the area.

Well 35/10-12 S encountered an 11-m gas column and an 18-m oil column in the Heather Formation but no oil/water contact. It was terminated in the Upper Jurassic Heather Formation, then plugged and abandoned.
