LONDONTower Resources continues final preparations for the NJOM3 appraisal well on the Njonji oil discovery in the Thali license offshore Cameroon.

After completing operations for another company off Gabon, Vantage’s jackupTopaz Driller should be available to spud the well during the latter part of May.

NJOM3 will be drilled to a TD of 1,100 m (3,609 ft), with a view to penetrating at least three reservoir zones identified by the earlier two wells by the previous operator Total.

Tower’s aims include confirming the greater reservoir thicknesses observed on reprocessed 3D seismic in the up-dip area of the structure and assessing additional reservoirs that were not present where Total’s wells were located.

In addition, the company plans to run various measurement, logging tools and DST flows to surface, with the well then likely to be suspended for subsequent completion as one of four initial production wells on Njonji.

This first development phase would target 18 MMbbl of 2C oil already identified in the structure and could come onstream in 2020.
