OSLO, Norway –E.ON Ruhrgas Norge has failed to prove hydrocarbons with its latest wildcats in the Norwegian Sea.
The semisubmersibleBorgland Dolphin drilled wells 6507/6-4 S and 6507/6-4 A in production license 350 in 364 m (1,161 ft) water depth, 10 km (6.2 mi) southeast of the BP-operated Skarv field.
According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, the aim was to prove petroleum in Upper Triassic and Permian reservoir rocks, corresponding to the Foldvik Creek group in east Greenland. However, both wells were dry.
The rig now heads tolicense PL 475 BS/CS in the Norwegian Sea to spud a well for Wintershall Norge.
