HOUSTON– Coastal Energy Co.’s Bua Ban North B-01 wildcat hit oil, according to the company. B-02 already has spudded.
B-01 reached TVD of 7,960 ft (2,426 m) in the well offshore eastern Thailand. The well encountered 28 ft of net pay in the Upper Oligocene with 23% average porosity, and 29 ft net pay in the Lower Oligocene with 16% average porosity. Pays are based on log analysis and shows; no flow tests have been run.
The company has spudded the Bua Ban North B-02 well to test two Miocene intervals in an optimal structural position, Coastal Energy said. The B-02 also will test Oligocene and Eocene targets.
