OSLO, Norway -- Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved two new exploration drilling programs.

Lundin Norway has clearance to drill well 16/1-15 in production license PL 338 in the North Sea, 180 km (112 mi) west of Jæren, in a water depth of 111 m (364 ft), using the semisubmersibld Bredford Dolphin.

Statoil’s program is also in the North Sea, in PLs 272 and 035. The semisub Ocean Vanguard will drill well 30/11-8S 158 km (98 mi) west of Bergen, in a water depth of 106 m (348 ft).

Drilling, which was due to start mid-January, will last for 56 days, and a further 29 days if the partners opt to drill a side track.
