SYDNEY, Australia – Bounty Oil & Gas NL says its Seaclem 1 exploration well in PEP 11 offshore New South Wales, Australia, encountered no hydrocarbons. Bounty says data from the well will be used to further identify potential reservoirs in the Sydney basin.

Well reports say wireline logging data identified sand bodies above TD of 750 m (2,461 ft) BRT that demonstrated porosity and permeability indicative of high salinity water. This log data indicates the presence in the Sydney basin of potential reservoirs suitable for migration and trapping off moveable hydrocarbons in an area with proven gas generation and migration.

Going forward, Bounty says additional seismic acquisition and further interpretation of the data will help target deeper structures including the Fish and Baleen prospects.
